WHAT THIS COURSE IS ABOUT:

Now that you've selected your keywords, what happens next?

This course covers strategies and considerations when deciding how to place keywords on your digital content so that you can actually rank them at the top of the SERPs.

In this 2-day session (6 hours total), we'll be talking about targeting as it pertains to the architecture of your site and how to build the most robust keyword framework for it.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE:

This 2-day course is Part 2 of a workshop series diving into the topic of Keyword Targeting.

Our targeting workshop series is for individuals or teams who are currently involved in digital marketing activities and/or managing their own websites or a third-party's website.

Please read the pre-requisites below before registering for this course. If you don't meet the pre-requisites, please withhold from registering so that others may participate, as class size is limited.

The format of this course is both instructional and interactive, which means each portion will explain concepts before transitioning to a practical exercise.

This course provides training for students who are looking for tailored instruction and prefer to engage and participate in a live classroom format.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Attendees should attend Targeting Workshop (Part 1): SEO Keywords prior to taking this course, as this course builds upon concepts taught in Part 1.
  • Attendees should have some prior experience or knowledge working with a content management system (i.e. website building framework), such as WordPress.
  • Attendees should have an active or trial subscription to an SEO software tool such as SEMRush, Ahrefs, etc. for the practical exercise portion of the course.
    [Note: In this course, we'll be demonstrating key concepts using SEMRush; however, students may opt to use their SEO tool of choice.]

DAY 1
- Instructional block 1: Evaluating your domain's best URLs (45 mins)
- Practical exercise 1: Interactive demo on an active domain (45 mins)
- Instructional block 2: Selecting and prioritizing content topics (45 mins)
- Practical exercise 2: Interactive demo on an active domain (45 mins)
DAY 2
- Instructional block 3: Understanding the value of text on a page (45 mins)
- Practical exercise 3: Interactive demo on an active domain (45 mins)
- Instructional block 4: Keyword placement on image and video content (45 mins)
- Practical exercise 4: Interactive demo on an active domain (45 mins)

[Note: All practical exercise blocks also include an interactive Q&A session with students in the class.]

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Evaluate your site's current keyword performance by URL
  • Improve your site's content and select keywords for placement on those pages
  • Structure (or re-structure) your page's copy with improved keywords
  • Understand the value of h1 through h6 header texts
  • Understand the value of Page Titles
  • Understand the value of Menu Items, Footers, and Margins
  • Embed images and optimally structure the alt text
  • Embed videos with optimized keywords
